Psalm 8: Small Under a Large Sky
Scripture
Psalm 8
The writer looks at the night sky and asks what a human being is, that anyone should notice.
The question is asked in wonder, not despair. And the answer that follows is not that we are insignificant after all, but that we have been given responsibility.
Both halves matter. Standing under that sky cures self-importance; the verses after it cure self-contempt. Most of us need one of those two on any given day.
