保罗要处理两个人的争执，用的方式是描述一段下行：与神同等，不以为强夺的；取了仆人的形象；存心顺服，以至于死。
每一步都是往下的。然后经文才转向上。
这里的论证不是「谦卑是个好品格」。而是：神的样式原来是这样的；而一群人在一间小教会里争谁在前，正站在一件使这场争论根本没有必要的事情旁边。
