Are Angels and Demons Real
Are these actual beings, or ancient ways of describing good and evil?

On the Bible account these are real created beings, not metaphors. Angels have quite specific roles in Scripture: carrying messages, guarding, executing commissions. Demons are described as created beings in rebellion, with will and action, but never as an equal opposite to God. That last point matters. Popular culture presents this as two evenly matched forces in a tug of war; Scripture does not. God is the creator and everything else is created, including those in rebellion. It was never a war of uncertain outcome. Several things have to be held at once. Do not underestimate: the New Testament treats spiritual reality seriously and tells believers to stay alert. But do not over-focus either. Scripture spends far less space on angels and demons than on how to live, how to love people, how to follow Christ. That proportion is itself a teaching. One distortion assigns every difficulty in life to a demon, which is neither biblical nor compatible with taking responsibility for your own behaviour. And notice when someone makes money or gains control this way. There is something on you and I can deal with it is the opening line of a great deal of manipulation. In Scripture deliverance is never charged for and never used to make someone dependent on a particular person. Practically: if you are afraid about this, the fear itself is worth addressing. Scripture repeatedly says do not fear — not because these things do not exist, but because there is one far greater. Keeping your attention on the one you trust is more useful than studying the other side.
