Psalm 133: How Good When Brothers Dwell Together
Scripture
Psalm 133
Three verses on unity, sung by pilgrims arriving together at Jerusalem.
The images are strange to modern ears: oil running down a beard, dew on a mountain. Both describe something poured out generously from above and running down, covering more than it was aimed at.
Note the word chosen: dwell. Not agree, not gather occasionally. Unity here is what happens when people stay in the same room over time, which is harder and more valuable than agreement.
