Psalm 13: How Long

Four times in two verses: how long. Then a complaint that God has forgotten and hidden his face.

By the end the psalm has turned toward trust — but notice that it is six verses long, and the turn does not come until verse five. Two thirds of it is protest.

This is in the Bible, unedited. Nobody smoothed it out. Which means the words you have not dared to say have already been prayed, and preserved, and given to the congregation to sing.
