Who Was Mordecai? A Faithful Jew in the Land of Exile

Though God's providence was hidden, it guided every step, so that the wicked man's schemes fell upon his own head. The whole book of Esther never mentions God's name directly, yet His hand is plainly at work in every 「coincidence.」 Lifted Up, and His People Delivered The outcome was reversed: Haman was hanged on the very gallows he had built, while Mordecai was granted honor by the king and rose to power, second only to the king himself. The Jews were able to defend themselves and escape the threat of destruction, and the feast of Purim was established from this, remembered for generations as a deliverance. Though Mordecai rose to high position, he never stopped striving for the good of his people and seeking the peace of all his brethren. 「For Mordecai the Jew was next unto king Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.Esther 10:3 (KJV)」 A Reminder for Us Mordecai teaches us that even when no one is applauding, and even when danger draws near, we must hold fast to integrity and fear God more than we fear people.
