Abide in the Vine — The Secret of Fruit

️ BiblePro Editorial Team 2026-07-17
"I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5) What is a branch's job? Not to strain grapes into existence, but to stay on the vine. Fruit is not manufactured by the branch; it grows as the sap flows through. We often reverse the order: serving furiously, striving to produce, while neglecting the connection. Jesus says "apart from me you can do NOTHING" — not "less," but nothing. Busy, withered service is a branch off the vine, burning itself as fuel. How do we abide? The same chapter gives the threads: His words abiding in us (v7), remaining in His love (v9), keeping His commands (v10), prayer (v7). In short: return to Him daily. Connection first, fruit second. Spend ten minutes today simply being with Him. Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are the vine and I am a branch. Forgive my fruit-making in my own strength. Today I return to abide in You — let Your life flow through me. Amen.
