New Every Morning — Hope Among the Ruins

"The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23) Few notice where these words come from: Lamentations — written over the rubble of fallen Jerusalem, the temple in ashes. "New every morning" is not a sunny-day aesthetic; it is a survivor's arithmetic among ruins. The prophet's logic: we are still here — therefore mercy has not run out. Yesterday's failure did not cancel today's love. God's mercies are never leftovers; every morning they come fresh from the oven. Then he says: "The LORD is my portion, therefore I will hope in him." Property, temple, walls — all lost. What remains? The LORD. And that is enough. Whatever yesterday held, this morning's mercy is already prepared for you. Prayer: Lord, thank You that Your mercies are new again this morning. I give yesterday to Your pardon and today to Your faithfulness. Amen.
